PLA 'more hands, less machines'
PLa are designed by Irene Peukes in the “Pla de Mallorca”, a place where nature and the longstanding traditions of the island meld with the latest influences of its multicultural visitors from around the world. Irene travels regularly to Bangladesh where she works together as a team with the craftswomen who hand make each pair of Pla Shoes.
Incredible skill and care is put into each pair of Pla shoes, braided from a single piece of Jute which is hand sewn to the cotton lining of the shoe. Precision and are is taken when hand making each shoe, making them very special and one of a kind, made by experts working with this material.

Caring for your Pla
The shoes can be cleaned with a cloth and, if necessary, dampened slightly to remove specific spots or scuffs, but we do not recommend wetting them too much because they take time to dry. If a fiber should loosen from the braid it can be trimmed off to keep the shoe looking neat and tidy.
