By now most of you would be familiar with the inimitable Bella Clark Jewellery label - a solo operation run by one incredible woman; Bella Clark herself. Beginning her label in late 2016, Bella still hand makes every single piece of jewellery in her Fitzroy Studio. No mean feat by anyone’s reckoning; her attention to detail and quality design have us coming back for more and more each time.
This month she has set up a cute window display across both stores to celebrate all that is love for Valentine’s Day and beyond. We sat down with her and asked her a few questions about her practice and her thoughts on romance… scroll to read more and see pictures of the window display if you haven’t already!
Here at MHD we put together a V-day playlist of all our fav romantic/ love songs… do you have a favourite? or if you can't narrow it down... top 3?!
Your Sweet Love – Lee Hazlewood
I’d Rather be with you – Bootsy Collins
Baby – Donnie & Joe Emerson
Jewellery often is collected or given for sentimental/ romantic reasons...Would you say you are a sentimental person?
I’m such a sentimental person! I hold such strong emotional value and connection even with everyday or mundane items.
What’s the most romantic thing (in your opinion) someone has done for you?
I think it's the small cheesy gestures that makes the biggest impacts, my heart melts when my bf surprises me with flowers.
What has been your favourite bespoke piece you have worked on? Why?
I feel so overwhelmed and grateful when people ask me to repurpose some stones from a family heirloom.
It’s that sentimental value that makes them so special and magical. It’s so hard to narrow it down and pick a favourite! I recently made a wedding ring using my client’s mother’s engagement ring diamond and added a few extra stones. I couldn’t stop looking at it!
What is the most treasured item that you use on a daily basis in the studio? What can’t you live without?
My speakers! I always have music or a podcast playing
Do you prefer to work in gold or silver ? or don’t have a preference?
I’m loving yellow gold at the moment, it's my favourite.
What is your ultimate date scenario?
Dream date would be taking the row boats at Studley Boat House followed by a cute picnic along the river….
